Bòrd na Gàidhlig started to publish research on the numbers in Gaelic Education in 2009-2010 to measure the pupil numbers engaged in Gaelic Medium Education (GME). This replaced the research carried out by Strathclyde University previously.
National statistics are collected by Scottish Government as part of its annual Statistics for Schools in Scotland. Bòrd na Gàidhlig’s view is that it is appropriate that Gaelic education information is collected by the same national system as this increases the normalisation of Gaelic.
Public data on Gaelic Education is published by Bòrd na Gàidhlig every year.
Detailed figures might be available to public bodies through a data sharing agreement – please contact Bòrd na Gàidhlig for further information.
